Here is a diagram....For the electrical

This one is for an automatic...

You might be able to copy it and blow it up somehow...

The hubs on your 91 are just flanges. The "auto hubs" were no longer available after 88.

The differentail disconects to provide differential action. Check the vac hoses and electrical connections.

does the 4wd light come on, do you hear a click when you slip it in 4wd?

nope i checked for vaccuum leaks and such but im still stumped

10-12-2009, 07:07 PM
Dont know toyota's but on a jeep you can just unbolt the actuater and pull it out, move the sleeve over to lock and put it back together. While its apart look at the actuater to see if its fucked.

Check the electrical connection (two wires going to the diff). The 4wd light won't come on unless the front diff is engauged, and it won't "click" either.

Make sure they havent corroded or anything...

10-13-2009, 04:11 PM
There are 2 vaccuum lines that go to the add next to the front diff. When then engine is running there should be vaccuum on one of the two at any given time.

You can try reversing the vaccuum lines to see if that engages the add.

I might suggest getting a manual at this point.

There are some wiring diagrams in there and some troubleshooting that might help.
