Hi

In my quest for info I stumbled apon this site.

I'm currently trying to figure how to get a 6bt/NV4500 in my 1978 Dodge 3/4 ton and hook it up to the 203.

waste of time to use the np203
swap in an np205
plenty of info out there for that swap as the 90-93 trucks upgraded to nv4500 fairly common to replace their Getrag

Try the site called "4bt swaps.com" the focus on that site is nothing but Deisel swaps into other vehicles and deisel performance tech, a section in there dedicated to the 6bt.

As far as quick info goes you can get almost everything you need for the swap from the 89-92 Cummins equipped Dodge trucks (same body style as yours). 89 is not intercooled 90 and up are intercooled. The NV 4500 did not come behind them till 93 (the newer body style) so the tranny will be a little more "custom" to fit into that body style.
