did up jjs alternator relocation today, used the pre 91 xj alternator bracket and a/c bracket, 25 bucks from garys, cause jjs truck is a 92 its a different type of alternator but all it took was a spacer and some thinking, which dosent come too easy for us 2 lol, heres a pic of it, using a 75" belt for anyone who wants to do it, it was really easy supprisingly, while we were at it we did dual electric fans on it as well, sorry shitty camera pic

we used the same alternator, just one alternator, and we used the secondary fans from xjs but the newer 8 blade ones, they put out more airflow

The 75" belt isn't big enough need to go to a 77.5" belt

Used the 92 altenator but the older style ac bracket

Big hole at the bottom where the old altenator was[36]

so whats the reason for relocating it? are they mounted in a dumb spot from the factory ?

yea, they hang below the front crossmember and there is nothing covering it and mud/water get into it and seize it up,

only have that problem with the older style jeeps, not newer jeeps like jj's 92. he didn't need to do that cause our bearings in our alts are sealed

Mine died last weekend cause of the mud and shit gets in there and fucks up the brushes and windings, was whining for a couple of months before it died last weekend

oh i thought you were going to do the dual alternator upgrade
guess not then
as for the fans
how did you wire them
t-stat trigger?
ignition trigger?
or swtiched?

The fans are on a switch and I'm good for a alternator right now but when mine dies I'll do the Dakota swap 4 sure

Hate to drag up an old thread like this, but my Alt in my 98 XJ just quit and I wanna try this upgrade. Will it bolt right in, or is there anything I have to modify?
