Dont park your truck anywhere you are working on projects using a grinder.
My windshield is screwed from the sparks off a grinder hitting it.
It melted little black holes all over it.
Its even hard to see out.
Pictures didnt show it so use your imagination.

I dont have to use my imagination [16] been there, done that

Yup,done it to my drivers side window before.Hit it with steel wool.It might help.It did for me since most of it is steel melted to the glass. The windshield may be a little different tho.

You can get most of it out if you wrap a bounce sheet in steel wool and use white vinegar to lube it... Old indian trick[36]

Lots and lots of vinegar and do a test area first[cheers]

haha such a beginners mistake. there is a reason welding helmets have plastic covers over the glass lens. sparks melt into glass but just bounce off plastic.

one of the Philopino guys in work did that and took out the windshield and one side of a brand new Peterbuilt [16]

use a razor blade to get them out and clean it real good it wont be so bad but dont let it get wet till you've done that or the sparks will begin to rust and stain the glass

09-29-2009, 11:27 PM
ya been there done that, to 2 vehicles

scraper/razor blade works good, you gotta pick them all out and polish it after works too

take an EXTRA fine glaze to the windshield after you razor blade the metal bits off, use a power buffer...no more that 2500 rpm..and move it around...that will take of the sharp edges of the pit and make it a little more livable...other than that...fawked

Makes me feel better that Im not the only dumb fawk around.
Ill try some of these remedies , thanks.

side and rear glass is 1 thing, but the windshild sucks. probally mostly on the drivers side too. hope you find a solution that works

the glass manufacturers use pink fiberglass batts soaked in sprayaway glass cleaner to get rid of burn marks on tempered glass but i don't know if it would work on a laminated windshield.
