3/16 should be pleanty fine, then you can fishplate it with 1/4 if you want.

Depends on the rust.

Can you take any pictures ?

Where are you located bring it by my shop I'll weld it for you hopefully just a few hours but I'm not sure what there is going to be left to work with after you grind that rust off
the truck might have to stay over night. Do you need done for a VI ? I take it its not a trail truck with the nice new muffler on it. Also depending on the year I've heard of toyota buying trucks back with unsafe rusted frames for 1.5 X blackbook.

it was his brothers truck he died recently so diggler is selling it to leave his young daughter a trust fund so any help would be greatly appreciated

Well my shop is in vancouver so no problem just bring it by and we'll get her fixed up N/C as long as its going to a good cause. I've just heard that if its for a VI a patched frame won't pass.

I have the 3/16 1/4 steel and it doesn't need a VI. Im doing my brothers memorial this Friday so next Friday the 2nd wouid be good. Where are you located in VAN you can call 604 826 6316 Darcy.

OK I can get a sleeve made for the inside then weld a section in on the outside but thats a major job but if you just want it safe and good enough to sell I'll just weld two plates on the outside. I'll send you a PM just send one back when your ready no rush man.

Not that bad good truck overall mostly stress crack not much rust after we grinded it down boxxing with 1/4 steel should be tougher than new. I would atempt to fix that box for you but I think we would end up using so much fiberglass it would end up turning into a boat. Anyways your good to pick it up tomorrow. I'll post some pictures as well as a ladies car that came in today that got keyed I'm sure you could use the laugh.

looks good. im a welder, but dont have much experiance patching frames, so its always good to see pics. thanks

Wasn't much of a patch for a toyota that frame was really solid probably could have gotten away just welding all the cracks. if it was rusty and rotten probably would have made a sleeve for it and gone a little more extreme on the welds whoever buys that truck with a little tlc on the box will have a super nice truck the interior of the cab was in awesome shape.
