Legally, nothing is allowed to stick out....it's in the BC motor vehicle act....but most cops will be ok with an inch or so hell a co-worker has 4.5 inches of tire siting out past his flares on his YJ....

I go with no tread sticking out past the fender (or flare), don't really care if you can see sidewall as long as it doesn't have those side lugs on it. And mudflaps have to cover half the tire from the rear.

yes the legalities say that you cannot have any tread surface exposed past the fender or fender flare and that you have to have mud flaps that cover at least half of the rear tires.

Some cops are pretty leanient (sp?) some aren't I have at least 8 or 9 inches of tire sticking out on mine, I have never been hassled for it but I don't drive it much on the street and when it is on the street I don't drive it like an idiot and draw unwanted attention to myself.

A friend of mine is a traffic cop for the RCMP and he basically said that it is not a high priority for them. Two inches past the flares shouldn't draw any unwanted attention unless they pull you over for doing something else. If you get an eager beaver newbie cop though...well good luck!
