McHuge's Bar & Grill

All I can say is bellybutton
shooters!!
We arrived
Wednesday night around 12:30am before the September long weekend. Pretty
quiet with about 15 people camped along the beach. As we set up camp
we were surprised at how low the waterline was. It would be impossible
to set up the hot tub, now a natural part
of every camp we make this summer. The first night and day were spent
battling the howling wind. Getting the tarps to stop flapping kept us
busy for a quite a few hours. Just after we were bunkered down ready
to sit out the storm the wind stops. The days following were better
weather with only one night of rain. Our quiet campsite would not stay
so quiet as the campers rolled in. The beach had swelled to what looked
like over 150 people; not bad for a small beach. Most everyone knew
each other and was a great crowd!
McHuge’s bar
and grill is much more than a bar on Harrison Lake beach made of mostly
driftwood. This crew really knows how to party! The atmosphere is charged
with an incredible amount of energy. Ok, well first thing in the morning
it is a dull roar. During the day, there are a lot of activities to
do. Tubing down the river (sing - - "a three hour tour"),
the near-by goldmine cave is fun for the kids to explore, boat rides,
swimming, beach golf, plus lots more. Clear Creek Hot Springs is a 3
hour 4x4 ride up the road and if that is not enough there is the nightlife!
Kids in bed,
supper done, it is time to go the bar, a short stumble away. There are
no drinks sold at the bar; everybody brings a bottle of shooter mix
and a fridge behind the bar will keep your beer cold. Jamie and friends
do a good job setting up shooters all night long and there is definitely
no shortage of people to drink them. Things seem to pick up after 11:00pm,
the bassey music going, the dance floor ready and the bellybutton shooters
are about to begin. A specially made shooter table was built earlier
in the day complete with arm and leg restraints just for effect. As
you can see this involves whipcream, shooter mix and two willing people.
With no shortage of any of the three there was a line up to get to the
table. A great time was had by all.
Ann adds: I
laughed so hard my stomach hurt when Kevin fell into the hot tub that
we dug but didn't fill!
