WHY??!!

When we drove up to the bridge we couldn't believe what we saw! Why would the government take this bridge out? What a waste of tax dollars!. They not only removed the bridge but they did it in the middle of winter which means to bring the heavy equipment in they had to plow the road. Talk about a make-work product!

I phoned and talked to the government engineer the next week and he said "it was not that the bridge was not sound but they did not have a load rating on it" When I suggested that it would make more sense and save a bunch of money to send in a couple of engineers to load-rate the bridge, he changed the subject. He also said they have no plans in replacing the bridge but would not object if private industry were to replace it. Well, the other side is logged out so that won't happen any time soon.

He mentioned that a couple of snowmobiles were getting through from the top road and this started our group thinking that there must be another way around.

I called up my buddy at the local Skydiving club and he agreed to take us for a flight between loads so we could map out a new route.

After we landed our spirits were high and we thought no problem, we could do that in a couple of days. Well that was until we walked the tail. Don't get me wrong; this was going to be a lot of fun but a hell of a lot of work as well!

Have a look at our first attempt at the trail.
